Antoine Maume is a French Fine Art photographer and visual artist whose work explores the delicate boundary between reality and fiction. Influenced by cinema, painting, and poetic realism, he creates photographs that transform everyday life into visual narratives open to interpretation. His images emerge from the encounter between real places, authentic people, and a storytelling vision that invites viewers to imagine what happened before—and what may happen after—the moment captured in the photograph. Through his work, Antoine Maume explores memory, childhood, travel, popular traditions, and the invisible connections between people and the places they inhabit. Each photograph is conceived as a fragment of a larger story, where reality becomes the raw material for fiction. In 2021, he represented France at the World Photographic Cup and has received several international distinctions, including recognition among the world's leading documentary photographers. His work has been exhibited in France and abroad, notably in New York. Today, he develops long-term photographic series across Europe and Mexico, where documentary photography and carefully crafted staging converge to create timeless images that feel both familiar and enigmatic. At the heart of his artistic practice is a simple ambition: to create photographs in which the viewer no longer knows exactly where reality ends and fiction begins.
